Zirconium diboride (ZrB2) has a high melting point, high hardness, high electrical conductivity, excellent corrosion resistance against molten iron and slags, superb thermal shock resistance. It is one of the promising materials for high temperature applications in several industrial sectors, such as foundry or refractory industries. ZrB2 is wet by molten metals but is not attacked by them, making it a useful material for molten metal crucibles, thermowell tubes for steel refining and in electrical devices: heaters and igniters. It is useful in nuclear applications because of the presence of Boron-10. Also it is used as an aerospace refractory, in cutting tools and to protect thermocouple tubes. Its other applications include use of its relatively high conductivity, especially for a ceramic.
Pishro Ceramic Mehr produces micron, submicron and nano-sized zirconium diboride powders in a wide range of purities using different techniques.
Pishro Ceramic Mehr can produce materials to custom specifications by request, in addition to custom compositions for commercial and research applications and new proprietary technologies.
